Been A While

It's been a while since I posted in this blog. Guess I should update more often. Anyway, here's a preview of the project I'm currently working on. It's a panel from the first page, penciled and inked by me.

An artist friend of mine, Xerx told me that it reminds of Whilce Portacio's art. I'm quite flattered actually, and have not intended it to come out like that.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the small update, gonna dig up some other stuff hopefully soon.

Here's a preview of a panel from Rise and Fall of Pileaus,the book I'm doing for Baeg Tobar. The pages for the first issue are done. I think it's in the coloring stage, hoping to be released within the year.

Anyway, I had so much fun doing the pages, and got to do the pages in tight pencils.

Well here's a page from comic I did months back, titled Victorian Horrors. It's the first issue, and I did all the comic pages (pencil and ink), around 24 pages. The book got pretty decent reviews, so I hope you might check it out when you have the time.

I really had fun working on this comic, it's too bad I couldn't do the rest of the issues (I was working on a different project, when the authors called up).

As for the website and also some links to reviews of the comic, you can check out www.victorianhorrors.com . It's a fun looking site, and the creators really put their best efforts with the book, with tie-ups to some merchandising to make the feel authentic.

RIP - Andy

Our family dog Andy, died today due to tick fever. She was 8 months old. Andy wasn't only a pet, she's also my officemate, in my studio at home. She really took off stress and pressure from my work. I'll miss the daily walks, herding us to get what she wants and her loyalty. We never knew that it was too late, because she never showed signs of the symptoms until her last remaining days. She waved to my sister in the clinic, we thought she could still make it, but unfortunately it was a wave of goodbye.

Rest in peace, Andy.

First Post / BT Stuff

Well here's my first post on this blog.

I was lucky to get signed up for a multi-issue comic project from a studio mate of mine, Jeremy Mohler. Turns out he owns another studio / website, Baeg Tobar (www.baegtobar.com). This is his first print comic and I'm the one doing the debut, talk about pressure.

Anyway, Jeremy made me do an art test, to see if my style fits the book. Well here it is, after so many revisions. It's quite different from the art style I'm used to. I usually do rendered pencil and ink drawings. Well tight pencils (the term they call it) is pretty tedious, having to trace your work on a light box just to get the pretty clean lines. Also, it shows some of my weakness in line art. My form and drafting needs more work. Sounds like hard work, eh? Actually I'm enjoying the experience.

Enough blabbing for now, back to work.
